Fiordland Cinema, Te Anau
Operating since October 2004, the award-winning architecturally designed Fiordland Cinema was specially constructed to house regular screenings of the locally filmed movie ‘Ata Whenua – Shadowland’ (also known as ‘Fiordland on Film’). The large curved screen and state of the art 7.1 Dolby surround sound make viewing this spectacular cinematic experience of Fiordland an experience to remember.
In addition to the daily screenings of Ata Whenua – Shadowland, the cinema also regularly screens new main-stream movies and art house releases (please see home page for our weekly schedule timetables), all projected from a state-of-the-art digital projector for the best image quality.
Enjoy a glass of our local ‘Fiordland’ wine or beer during the movie and indulge in the comfortable surroundings and large, comfortable seats. Order a delicious barista-made coffee to enjoy at intermission or stick with the traditional popcorn and ice-cream!
The adjoining stylish Black Dog Bar boasts an impressive local wine list, and the cosy open fire can be enjoyed before and after the movies.
